NAACM began as a once per year Winter event in 2013, as a notion that our community needed a Native American venue where local artists and crafters could come together to share their arts, crafts, tribal backgrounds, as well as create this opportunity for the public to experience authentically made Native American Arts & Crafts. So, thirteen of our Native American community friends gathered for the first time to start this journey.
Today, NAACM has grown into a beautiful and authentic display of Arts & Crafts that are shared during a monthly event on the First Sunday of the month at the Farmers Market Pavilion in downtown Eugene, Oregon. A few years into our journey, it became apparent that we needed to start creating more structure to our event in order to achieve a more authentic display and sharing of Native American arts & crafts. This meant NAACM artists & crafters who wished to participate in our Native American Arts & Crafts events, needed to apply through an application process to declare that their arts and crafts were made by themselves as artisans of Native American heritage or enrolled tribal members. Authentically made Native American arts & crafts makes this event unique. We transform the Pavilion into an event of Native American & Indigenous cultural sharing and a gallery of Fine Art, beadwork, Navajo made jewelry, crafts, beautiful wood carvings, and more.
